Week 52 ~ biking and biking and... biking

Heyyy guys

When i think back on what we did this week all i can think of is.. biking. haha the train between Kampen and Zwolle is going to stop running for a couple months so they can work on the tracks so there's a bus instead, but it takes a lot longer to get to Zwolle... so Zr. Elggren and I have started biking! It's 16 miles round trip and we've done it 4 times already this week haha. It's super fun. But super hot now all of a sudden! We got really sun burnt.

The highlights of this week were definitely the two lessons we had with our new investigators!

First we taught Ekren and Seran. They're from Turkey and they are muslim-ish but want to learn about Jesus Christ! Seran speaks Dutch and Turkish, but Ekren only speaks Turkish so Seran translated for him. It was super cool! Also Ekren is a freaking famous Turkish singer???! We looked him up on YouTube and he has like 15,000 views on his videos haha he's good!

We also taught Marlies!! She's AMAZING. We weren't sure how much interest she had at first, but when we went back for our appointment, she had already done some research on the Book of Mormon and where it comes from and she had tons of questions and was super open! She's so cool. We taught a restoration lesson and she was just very sincere. And she gave us stroopwafels and hugs at the end! Ah! She told us that she told her parents that we were coming over and that we were from America and her dad was wondering what language we communicate in. She told them Dutch, and he said, "Well their church must be true, because that's a miracle!" Hahaha

I hope you all had a wonderful week! I know the gospel is true!

Love you

Week 51 ~ 22.05.17

Hiiiii.

One of our investigators had a dream about the number 24 and then she opened her bible and read a verse and it happened to be verse 24... then we came over and she told us she needed to tell us about a dream she had, but not until after the lesson. Then we said okay we're going to read in Mosiah chapter 24 today. She was freaking out.. trippy. Maybe she needs to get baptized on the 24th?? Haha

Zr. Elggren and I decided to pray about a new scouring area, and once we decided on an area we wanted to choose a street. We were both staring at the map and I asked her what she was thinking. She told me she was thinking about two streets and they were the exact two streets I was thinking about! We biked to the streets and gave out a Book of Mormon on each street. It was a really cool experience. I know that God is willing to guide us if we just ask Him.

One of our new investigators also invited his roommate to listen in on our lesson! He's already doing missionary work :) We're really excited to work with both of them.

We met a lot of cool people this week and have some return appointments. I have definitely seen the hand of God in our missionary work and the lives of the people here in Kampen :)

Also, Zr. Elggren told me I was sleep teaching in Dutch about God. Yasssss.

It was a good week! I hope you all had a good week too. Shout out to Anthony--graduating from high school this week!

Week 50 ~ go shawty it's yo birthday

This week was SO GOOD. I got to Skype my family! I love you guys!

First of all thank you so much for all the love for my birthday! I had an awesome day. Zr. Elggren bought me earrings, decorated the apartment, and made me French toast. She's a keeper. And some awesome members (Tineke, Leroy, and Marthijs) made my birthday so great! We had pie and they gave me presents and just spoiled me, I love them so much! We also jumped on the trampoline for like 30 minutes and I tucked my skirt into the bottom of my g's so I could play crack the egg. The boys were so confused hahaha. It was so fun!

also funny fact: zr. Elggren is vegetarian and i can't have milk products so we're #basicallyvegan

Also last Monday was one of the most fun p days I've had! We went with Tineke and the boys to fly kites! It was so nice. The weather is warming up a ton and I'm super happy about it. No more tights!!

We also found two carnivals this week which means... OLIEBOLLEN! Zr. Elggren and I were so happy because we're obsessed. You can only find oliebollen at carnivals and at Christmas time. hahah Zr. Elggren and I both really like Sugar and we justified buying tons of Sugar this week for my birthday. such a bad idea, yet so good. #weateawholejarofspeculoosinthreedays #bananabreadwithspeculoos #tonsofcandy #sorbet #darkchocolate #friedbananas #brownieinamug #pie #donuts #wearegettingsofat

We saw SO many miracles this week. We made a goal this transfer to try to testify on every door before it gets shut and it has been amazing! We found three awesome new investigators! We're super excited to work with them. One of the women we found said that she was going to pray about the fact that we knocked on her door to see if God put us in her path. She's awesome. We are super excited about all three of them.

We had a lesson with Hichame and Wieu! We taught the plan of salvation in Dutch and then Wieu translated it into Arabic for Hichame. It was so cool! Hichame is learning more and Wieu (the eternigator) is getting to help teach the lessons! It is a really great opportunity to teach them both. Hichame said that he had been praying to know which church he needed to go to and then we met him in the park. He compared his experience to Joseph Smith's experience and said he knows the church is true!

We also met a guy who told us we could come back to his house and bring him a Book of Mormon the next day. So we went back at the time he told us and he wasn't home. We were slightly annoyed/bummed, but we decided to street contact instead. It was getting close to 9:00pm so no one was really on the Streets haha and there was literally one girl walking toward us so we were like okay lets contact her. And she turned out to be super nice and interested! We gave her a Book of Mormon and got her number. It was cool because maybe the guy we met wasn't interested, but God just needed us to go look him up again so we could meet the girl on the street! God works in mysterious ways :)

I love you guys!

Week 49 ~ transfer 8.

First off, THANKS FOR ALL THE LOVE! I love you guys! Thanks for the birthday wishes :)

Monday we went to Giethoorn with Tineke and Leroy (members)! It was super fun. It's this cute little town with no roads and only canals! Then we stopped off in this little town called Staphorst where the women still wear the traditional Dutch clothes. We just walked around looking for them haha and we spotted two on their bikes. Yes.

Wednesday was transfer day! I picked up Zr Elggren! She's great. She's from Seattle, Washington and she's just freaking fun. We've been having a blast together knocking doors haha... it was a pretty slow week BUT we found tons of new potentials. I was actually shocked. Whenever someone actually has interest in the Book of Mormon I forget what to do for a second haha. But yeah we have some return appointments and got some numbers! We're really excited for this transfer.

Friday we got to work at the voedsel bank (food bank)! It was such a cool experience. We first helped with the preparing of the food and setting everything up and then we were also able to help deal the food out and talk to the people. It was a really cool experience.

I also talked to Zr. Lodders (from Utrecht) on the Phone!! I LOVE that woman! That was a mini miracle :)

Also Sunday was crazy because we walked into sacrament meeting and there were a bunch of Americans. There was a group of BYU students on study abroad, Zr. Winkel's sister (random I know) was visiting with her husband, and President and Sister Bunnell were there too! It was crazy, but gezellig.

I love you all and hope you have a great week.
